Our Vision
In 1988 Remo and Rosemarie Campitelli bought this sprawling 350 acre Muskoka oasis with a beautiful 45 acre lake as the centerpiece. For sixteen years they used the property as a family retreat. With the evolution of time came the idea of an exclusive eco-community of like-minded environmentally conscious homeowners, that also share in the development of the community.
In 2004, the Campitelli’s started the legal process of subdividing 23 estate lots with individual titles. Lots vary in size from 2.75 to 12.25 acres, utilizing 135 acres. The remaining 250 acres including 45 acre Sims Lake will remain untouched for equal use by the 23 property owners. This will be an exclusive community of only 23 homes securing the privacy and excluding any further development .
Green Acres Living is in early formation with the intention to evolve as a holistic, sustainable community – living harmoniously with the earth. Our mission is to cultivate lifestyles demonstrating the learning and living of co-operation, simplicity, creative expression, and respect for one another and nature — while honouring, protecting and enhancing the natural environment. Energy-efficient, ecologically sound living, learning, working, and playing will be accomplished by using sustainable design, methods and materials wherever and whenever possible. Energy efficient building materials and alternative grid connected or off-grid energy are encouraged.
As individuals, we will have a variety of enthusiasms that will also involve us with the world and other members of the community: organic gardening, music, crafts, woodworking, environmentalism, community networking, painting, creative writing, alternative energy, etc. Each resident will add to the diverse mix that makes up the community by creating a lifestyle that nurtures the human spirit and offers hope for future generations.
Ecological Goal: Balance natural systems to benefit future generations.
Social Goal: maintain a community lifestyle that protects individual rights, fosters a spirit of community and facilitates activities that benefit individuals, enrich the community and promote positive relations with the larger world.
The Campitelli's envision a community with people of all ages and diverse interests, and backgrounds. We take care of each other’s animals and houses if someone is away, and generally look after each other as good friends and neighbours. In common, we are open minded, tolerant, and environmentally conscious.
Green Acres Living will be governed by a set of ‘condominum’ rules that will evolve as Phase 1 of the development is sold.
